1st Sunday in Lent

Project type

Food, Table Sacpe

Date

February 22nd

Location

Trinidad and Tobago

Today is the first Sunday in Lent and Abbot John Pererria asked us to go back to our beginnings. When I saw the purple reredos 💜 decoration at the Mt St. Benedict Abbey, it dawned on me that this should be my colour for today. I made fried bakes and melongene choka (based on a discussion of different melongene choka recipes last night! Olive oil or no olive oil!) Delish! Orange 🍊 juice, coffee ☕️ and bananas 🍌. Taste for so. Folks, what sacrifices are you making for Lent? I do not eat meat or chocolates. This year, I also decided to give up soft drinks. Wish me luck! Life is good! #foodienation #foodnetwork

Keeping with the purple 💜 theme, I chose a tablecloth from Tanzania 🇹🇿. I cut a crown of thorns flower 💐 to decorate the table today for the first time. Did you notice? I made Shrimp 🍤 risotto alle mele, baked shrimp 🍤 and sautéed salmon with fried onions. The callaloo with snow crab 🦀 was a real hit! Tomato roses. Orange 🍊 juice. Really hearty meal! Life is good 😄. #foodienation ##foodnetwork
