Welcome to “Abracadabra: Sunday Spread” our second week. This space celebrates the culinary adventures and elevated tablescapes of Dr. Jennifer Jones-Morales.

Since 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Jones-Morales has channeled her creativity and cultural passion into crafting beautifully styled breakfast and lunch dishes. (See the In Touch Magazine link to learn more.) Each week she draws inspiration from cuisines around the world—places she has visited or hopes to experience one day.

From Kelewele (Côte d’Ivoire) and Jollof Rice (Nigeria) to Lomo Saltado (Peru) and Kimchi Fried Rice (Japan), her dishes carry the aroma of global exploration. And, of course, she honors home with classics like callaloo and crab, stewed oxtail, melongene choka, and fried bakes.

Presentation is key. Her tablescapes are enhanced with carefully chosen color palettes, coordinated crockery, and intentional styling that captures a specific mood—be it a chic French bistro or a refined formal luncheon. Many of the pieces she uses were lovingly collected during shopping trips with her late mother, making each spread emotionally significant.

A proud graduate of the Caribbean Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute, Dr. Jones-Morales trained under the renowned Chef Brent Sinanan. Her dishes often feature homegrown flowers and herbs—a signature touch.

Her husband Sheldon is her enthusiastic taste-tester, offering his honest reviews and always identifying the “star of the meal.”

Every presentation is a treat. Every plate tells a story.
